Demoing stuff for some co-workers in another department. 30 seconds into the presentation it occurs to my coworkers that this is not what they meant and they lack the ability to communicate via email. Thanks for wasting my time!

Too much faith in their abilities I guess. They said they wanted us to show them how we do a process but it turns out that what they really wanted was to show them how to request other people to to the process because they can’t do it directly.

Related to ‘communicate via email’, we constantly have people from another department wandering the length of our office building and up 2 floors to ask us a question rather than sending and email or calling, or even entering a ticket in our system. The best is when they walk in and stand at my desk staring at me, talking while I’m working with someone on the phone.

Listen here young man, serious adults in the business world don’t have the time to fool around with your new-wave “E-mail” or “AOL” or “Pac-Man” or any of that teenage computer hobbyist nonsense.
Say, when you pass the secretary’s desk could you ask her to come in here? Have her bring her Dictaphone.

As annoying as that is though, it does tend to avoid getting into situations like this where you could send 5 or 6 emails to finally figure out what they hell they need.

HAHA. My old supervisor used to do that to our poor IT dept. at Mercedes. She was completely useless when it came to tech. I routinely had to dock her laptop for her or plug cables back into the back of her monitor...
